HGTV’s 2014 Dream Home at Lake Tahoe is better than ever

Each year HGTV builds an amazing dream home in a desirable location, decks it out with the finest brands and furniture, and then gives it away to one lucky entrant. This year the 3,200-square-foot vacation getaway, featuring two wings of living space, is tucked away in the Truckee, CA, community of Schaffer’s Mill.

The complete Virtual Tour is available here, but let us take a moment to highlight the kitchen, a beautiful and open space that is every chef and entertainer’s dream.

What does our manufacturer Delta Faucet have in common with the 2012 Olympics?

Delta Faucet Company and the 2012 Olympic Committee share a common goal: Sustainability. Find out more about how the London Olympic Committee is planning for new ways to live with water long after the London games have ended at Aquatic Centre:

How many of us have been in the middle of preparing dinner and needing to wash up but don’t want to touch the faucet with our raw meat hands?

Delta Faucet has brilliantly delivered a solution: the Touch20®  faucet, which turns on when you simply tap anywhere on the spout or handle with your wrist or forearm (or any part of you that isn’t messy).

From Delta: It doesn’t matter if you have full hands or ten messy fingers. Keep the faucet clean, even when your hands aren’t. Tap anywhere on the spout or handle with your wrist or forearm to start and stop the flow of water. Touch20® Technology can also help you conserve water. As you prepare food or wash up in the sink, it’s easy to turn the water flow off when it’s not needed between tasks.

How do I turn it off and on?

You may choose to operate the faucet as you would any standard single-handle faucet by moving the handle to the on and off positions. You may also tap it on and off with a deliberate touch, like that of playing the piano.

How do I control water flow?

You control water flow manually with the handle, just as you would operate any standard faucet. When operating the faucet in “Touch” mode, the water flow setting remains the same as the previous use.

How do I control water temperature?

You control the water temperature manually with the handle, just as you would any standard faucet. When operating the faucet in “Touch” mode, the water temperature setting remains the same as the previous use.

Are there any safety features?

Touch2O® Technology incorporates an automatic water flow shut-off after four minutes if the water is left running with no activity.

Do I need an electrician? What about a plumber?

No. The installation process is just like installing a regular pull-down faucet with an addition of one more component and a few easy-to-connect wires. Because the faucet works on batteries, there is no need to hire an electrician to assist with the installation. Even the batteries are included. With DIAMOND™ Seal Technology, the integrated supply lines mean everything is included in the box.

Watch the installation video.

What’s the difference between Touch2O® and Touch2O.xt™ Technology?

You know that static discharge you experience in the winter after walking on carpet and then touching a metal object? That is the result of a characteristic for storing energy in the human body called “capacitance.” Touch2O® Technology uses capacitance sensors to detect human touch and turn the faucet on and off. But don’t worry, it won’t give you a static poke!

Both Kitchen and Bath Touch2O® Products are available. Read more:
