Texas summers are not to be trifled with. Once the heat and humidity settles in, all we want to do is sit in front of a cool fan and drink some lemonade. But alas, life does not stop in the summer. We have to go to work, run errands, cook meals. And with the cooking of meals is where we come in. At the Bath & Kitchen Showplace our job is to make your bathrooms and kitchens more beautiful, but more importantly, more functional. Here are a few ways to make your kitchen more functional in the summer – or at least more bearable:
1. Get a refrigerator with a built in ice/water dispenser.
Okay, admittedly, this is a splurge. But if you don’t have one of these in your kitchen already, now is a great time to invest in such a magical appliance. Simply grab a glass, push the button, and voila! instant refreshment.
2. Use your grill.
Instead of “slaving over a hot stove”, leave the stove off and do all your cooking on the grill. Steak, chicken, fish, vegetables, even grilled fruit for dessert…the list is endless of the kinds of meals you can make outdoors. Keep that kitchen and the rest of your house cool by using your charcoal or propane grill instead of your stove/oven.
3. Install a faucet with Touch2O Technology.
Delta Faucet has the answer for when you ARE in your kitchen and your hands are messy from cutting a watermelon or rolling out dough for a homemade apple pie (right?!). The answer is their Touch2O Technology – “For when your hands need a hand!” All you have to do is tap anywhere on the spout or handle of the faucet with your hand, wrist or forearm to start and stop the flow of water.
So there you have it! These are just a few ways to make summers in your kitchen a little more bearable.
If all else fails, sip some iced tea on your front porch!
